:: home coffee bar

I'm so excited to share my new coffee bar with you.
I found this really great shelf at Hobby Lobby
and I knew instantly it would be perfect here.
I also knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

So, here it is in all it's glory....my new coffee bar....I love it.
I love the height it adds to this side of my kitchen,
and I love the retro industrial look of the shelf.
I simply pulled out my white coffee mugs & saucers
to fill the awesome wire baskets and hang from the hooks.
I had a small collection of vintage coffee pots looking for a home
so I added them along with my letter E...glad to finally have some display space.

When the kids go back to school this fall I will be painting the red walls,
I think it's going to look even better against the new light walls.
I think I may also paint the chest a nice gray color
and add some really cute vintage knobs.

What do you think?

I'm also trying to decide on one of these new coffee makers.
I'll save my old one for parties & get togethers.
I'm really leaning to the one on the left
it had the best reviews and its 14 cups.
I would love to see a fancy schmancy
stainless steel espresso machine on my bar,
but the reality is that I would be too lazy to use it,
if it came with a barista that would be a different story.

So what do you think of my coffee bar?
If you have one of these coffee makers and love it
or hate it I would love to know.

Sorry for the not so great photos,
I can't find my tripod thingy for my camera.
Well, now you know what I'll be doing the rest of the day...
searching....scouring....scrounging....
for that thingy.

Happy Monday
{ peace, love & hugs }
Carrie

  1. Hey Carrie! Love your coffee bar! I wish we had a nook like that to contain my husband's coffee mess! :-) We've had both the coffee maker on the right and in the middle. The one on the right lasted a few years before it died. I forget what happened exactly, but it was leaking out the back. Now we have the one in the middle. It works just fine. I'm not sure how the hot water feature would be, never used it. But I think the water would taste like coffee. So I vote for the one on the left! :-) Have a great day!

  6. It looks terrific. I've always wanted to have a coffee bar but thought it would be silly for just the two of us coffee drinkers. Not anymore. I love yours, thanks for the nudge and inspirtion.

  9. I think your coffee bar is fabulous. I haven't had much coffee since it's been so hot, I've been drinking ice tea, but once it starts to get cooler, my coffee will be brewing once again.

  10. Oh, I love the coffee bar. I start each day with a cup, or two. I can't go a day without it. I'm cranky. Your coffee bar would be comfy to sidle up to each morning. Great job. And I like all the ideas you have to change it.

  11. I love it!! It looks SO nice! I would love to have a little coffee area/station in my kitchen...but neither my husband or I like coffee! Lol!

  12. I'm happy for you! I re-did a library table in my kitchen a couple weeks ago dedicate to oru coffee and tea making - quiet relaxed daily rituals. It feels content making it there, and pretty, too. I'll bet you feel the same. :) Simple pleasures. :)

  13. I love this! Where did you get the chest? I've been looking for something like that for years. Also as a coffee NERD, I suggest getting a Capresso CoffeeTEAM TS - It grinds your coffee fresh, has a timer and my favorite is the stainless steel thermal carafe so your coffee is hot hours after brewing without the warmer staying on and cooking your coffee. It's great for that mid-morning cup that always seems necessary. :) Also Capresso is a great brand, I got my parents hand-me-down and it's been chugging along for years. I've been waiting for it to die so I can upgrade and it just won't stop! :)

  14. I just found your post on pinterest and I am IN LOVE with this idea! I have about half the space in which I could do this, and I think I'm going to see if I can work it out! (Sadly, I'm very VERY rural, so furniture and hobby lobby options are limited, but I'm confident I can find *something*!)
Also, I have that coffee pot on the left and love it. I do think I'm going to get a Keurig as well though, they are just too fun and my kiddos love the tea and hot chocolate options.
THANK YOU for the wonderful inspiration!!

  16. I found you via Pinterest, too, and I love this idea! Thank you for the inspiration! I've been looking for a sideboard/buffet like that...can you share where you got it?

  17. For those who asked where the cabinet/chest came from I think I ordered it from the catalog " Through the Country Door" you can also find it online. However, it was many years ago. I found the baskets somewhere else later. Hope this helps : ).

  18. Just found your blog today through Pinterest. LOVE your shelf & I'm totally inspired to make my own coffee bar.

    tfs!

  19. I have the Cuisinart. I LOVE it. It's been from Nevada to Korea to Arizona and is now in Texas. Doesn't leak, hasn't broken, AND I love the timer feature. Plus it has the option to change the carafe warmer temperature, so no more burned if it sat a little too long.

You've inspired me to create a coffee bar, AND I'm going to redo some more of my kitchen...can't wait! Beautiful job!

  23. Hi, I'm your newest follower.

I really like your coffee bar - oh, how I wish we had the room!

As for a new coffee maker, we learned the hard way. Do not get one with controls and programmable buttons on the bottom. Gravity. Ugh. If your coffee carafe overflows (life happens, right?) The buttons get we and short out.

We have a Krups, and we like it. But, we would never get buttons on the bottom again.

  24. Fabulous coffee bar! My name is Skaie (sky) Knox, editor-in-chief blogger for DiggersList, a home-improvement classifies. I will be featuring this idea (w/credit and link back) with our readers/users who will absolutely LOVE it! Note: for anyone looking for extra, inexpensive shelving and furniture...come have a look!

Thank you again for such great content!

  25. I love you coffee bar! This is what I need. Right now my coffee supplies take up a full counter top anyway...why not make it look pretty?

I also vote for the pot on the left. I wouldn't worry about an espresso machine. Even if you had a personal trained barista in your kitchen, it would be different to get the same quality just because it would be so low volume. I am a barista. :) And every couple of hours, we readjust the grind, which in essence "wastes coffee." If you are only making lattes for yourself, you would throw away just about as much as you would use.

Love your blog! If you want more coffee tips, check out my blog: www.coffeeculturecommunity.blogspot.com/

  26. Not sure how long ago this post is from but I LOVE the idea. In fact, I have the perfect space in our tiny kitchen that really is not being used for a specific purpose and might need to become our coffee bar :)

Can I recommend that you go with the cuisinart? We LOVE ours. One thing though, get the stainless steel pot. Trust me, it keeps the coffee hot for much much longer.

    Great blog!

  27. This is so lovely!!! I saw this on pinterest a few days ago and can't wait to have the space to make a little coffee nook of my own! :)

Where did you find the shelf/ wall mug organizer that you've hung over your buffet/ chest? I'd love to know!

    Thanks! :)

  28. This is absolutely lovely. I just saw this same shelf at Hobby Lobby and am going back to get it. I made a mini coffee, hot chocolate, chai bar for Thanksgiving guests and plan to do the same for Christmas but your special station is simply delightful. I may just replicate it. As for coffee makers, I own the one on the left and am very pleased with it. I did have a small espresso maker but, you are right, I rarely used it. Ended up in a garage sale. Thanks for sharing your lovely idea.

  34. I love this! Can't wait to show it to my sister in law as a possibility for her lake house. Coffee is a must with the many visitors. You might consider adding a Keurig Coffee maker in addition to your regular coffee maker. It is nice for that special type of coffee, those that just want tea or for the evening when you don't need a whole pot and you just want one cup. I love mine. still use the old regular pot but it is nice to have the versatility.

  37. Hi! Found your wonderful blog via Pinterest just now and I am in love with your little coffee bar! I am in desperate need of something similar for coffee, wine and juicing. Your post has given me so many wonderful ideas!
As for the coffee makers, I personally own the one on the far right and while it's a great coffee maker it can be very inconvenient. You are unable to fill a travel mug because of the height, and adding water to brew would require a separate canister. I miss having the carafe, as it was much easier to clean and was more flexible in terms of my needs.

  38. Your coffee bar inspired me! I bought a piece of furniture yesterday to make my very own. Thank you for the great idea.

  59. I love your coffee bar. FYI I have had a coffee maker very simular to the one on the far left and it has just now reached its last days and are you ready for it....it is about 10 years old!

  60. Love the coffee bar. FYI I have a coffee maker similar to the one on the far left it has just now had issues...well it is 10 years old so it has earned its keep! I believe I paid about 125.00 for it so if I divide that out it was about 12.50 a year!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I had the coffee maker on the left -- well, still do, I just took it to work now and let everyone enjoy the wonderful coffee it makes. I have gone to drinking a cup of tea in the morning and take a cup of coffee to work -- my answer to cutting down on caffeine. Because of that I purchased the coffee maker in the middle, so now I have my coffee and my tea and one machine! I absolutely love it. But I must say that Cuisinart is not my favorite brand, I will probably switch to Kitchenaid next time to match all of my other appliances...

  67. I hope to have a coffee bar in our new house. And since my kitchen is red, I really love the black on red colors. It would be interesting to see how different (yet lovely) it will look when you change things up. As to a coffee pot: I have a Hamilton Brew Station (12 cup) and absolutely love it. I love not having to deal with the carafe, and it keeps coffee hot for hours without any scorched taste.

  68. What's really crazy here is: I have this exact same size & shape of wall, angled the same, same exact shape & height baseboard with the warm white woodwork with oak floors. I painted my kitchen back then (2010) the exact same shade of red, bought that exact same area rug at Lowes. I also bought a black painted/cherry wood trim country dining set!
I have been looking for a perfect little buffet like this for that wall and stumbled on this picture on Pinterest. My jaw dropped because it looks like you've taken a picture of my kitchen WITH the perfect piece in place!!
My hats off to you... You have good taste! :-) :-)

I have that same shelf, I just have not hung it yet. I am concerned about making sure that the weight of the shelf is supported along with the rest of the stuff I am going to be putting on it. Did you have any issues hanging it? Is your shelf secured to studs?
    Thanks for your help!
